The orange-bellied leafbird is a bird native to the central and eastern Himalayas, Yunnan and northern parts of Southeast Asia. The greyish-crowned leafbird, which is found in Hainan, is again considered conspecific. The scientific name commemorates the English naturalist Thomas Hardwicke.

It is found in Sumatra (Indonesia) and the Thai-Malay Peninsula. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests and subtropical or tropical moist montane forests.

Superficially similar in appearance to the Verditer flycatcher, it is a paler blue, with greyish underparts from throat to vent, and a discontinuous black eye-patch. The rufous-browed flycatcher is a unique-looking flycatcher with a gleamingly clean white throat & a strong rusty orange tinge to the brow and forehead. There is an overlap with the closely related White-gorgeted Flycatcher but it lacks that species’s gray face & black border to the white throat patch. It inhabits foothill and montane forests, where it forages close to the ground in lower vegetation.

The Streaked Spiderhunter (Arachnothera magna) is a large and noisy inhabitant of tropical & subtropical hill forests. Distinctive in its range it is a large spiderhunter with a long, curved black bill and black streaking all over its yellow-green upperparts and lighter yellow underparts. It gleans invertebrates from foliage, but also hovers around and probes into flowers for nectar. Often moves with mixed flocks calling frequently.

The Mesia, also called Silver-eared Mesia, or Silver-ear (Leiothrix argentauris) is a song bird of the babbler family Timaliidae. It is found from Pakistan through the Indochinese peninsula in scrub and secondary jungle. This 15 centimetre (6 inch) long bird is olive above and yellow below, with a black crown, silver ear patches, and some crimson on the tail. In groups of 6 to 30 it travels about the forest bushes and canopy seeking berries and peering under leaves for insects. Four eggs are laid in a cup-shaped nest. The mesia has a sweet, whistling song and is sometimes kept as a cage bird.
